Soon after Ric Clayton (No Mercy) came up with the name The Beer nuts. The band was heavily influenced by Neighborhood Watch and Entropy from WLA, Suicidal Tendencies and No Mercy from Venice, As well as No Reaction and Cycotic Youth from Santa Monica. They were all part of The Punk scene of The Westside, united through music and often the bands would play together. The Beer Nuts played mostly parties and recorded their first demo with Suicidal tendencies guitarist John nelson some time around 1986. The band continued to play parties usually with the  backyards and sometimes the entire house looking like a tornado had touched down.This earned the band a well deserved bad name. The band started playing more shows, the Anti Club twice a month and continued playing backyards and on the top of Mulholland Blvd. with generators.
